Deoriat al Lake has captivating surroundings with Deodar, Oakwood and Rhododendron forest all around. Situated at about 2450 meters above sea level, there is an excellent camping ground near the lake that makes this destination a perfect place to spend a few camping days around nature. Reflection of mighty Chaukhamba Peak can be seen in the still water of this lake all day, given the weather is clear.
There is option to trek from Ukhimath to Deoria tal (7-km), which is a pleasant slightly uphill walk but dotted with villages and view of Himalayan peaks. There is no technicality involved and a beginner can pursue this trek.
Different Trails to Deoria TalA small hike from Sari village to Deoria tal is 3-km long and most people prefer to take this trail to trek to the lake.
The trek from Deoria tal to Chopta is 12-km and one that is picturesque. It is a valley with high density of Himalayan Black Bears. Make sure to have a guide and few members in group walking together.
The trek from Chopta to Tungnath temple is (3.5-km) and further to Chandrashsila top (+ 1.5 km) and back is about 10-kms in total. Remember, Chopta and Sari village are road-heads.
