Dodi Tal lake is a pristine freshwater lake in the Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand in northern India. The lake has holy sentiments for the denizen of the valley of Assi Ganga river, which originates from Dodi Tal. The river Assi Ganga later merges with Bhagirathi at Gangori near Uttarkashi. The origin of the name of the lake owns to a healthy population of Dodi or the Himalayan Trout at the lake.
On the fringe of the lake is a temple of Lord Ganesh where local people come to pay homage on cosmologically important days of the year. Hindu scriptures suggest that it was here that Lord Shiva cut the head of His son Lord Ganesha because he wouldn’t let Him through towards the lake where Mata Parvati was bathing.
Categorically, the trek to Dodi Tal lake is pretty straightforward with semi-mild steeps with a few false flat sections. It is an ideal backpacking experience for someone who wants to spend some quality time in nature to explore the wildlife, flowers & trees and also the culture of one of the least understood civilizations in the Himalayas. 5-km/3-miles steep climb ahead of the Dodi Tal lake are Darwa top meadows, from where you can have a grand look at big peaks like Bunderpoonch (Monkey Tail), Swargarohini, Shreekanth Mahadev, and Gangotri range of peaks amongst many others.
Dreamcatcher Adventure suggests a tailor-made trekking program for Dodi Tal that will live up to your adventurous expectations. Dodi Tal Lake has lived up to its name and embraced many souls in its unknown mystical ways.

My family have done multiple treks with this organization. They only conduct custom treks for small groups, making it so easy for us, especially when we trek with kids.
